| 6TH CONGRESS OF PEDIATRICS OF TURKISH WORLD COMMENCES IN BAKU |

6th congress of pediatrics of the Turkish World commenced October 6 at the Azerbaijan Medical University.
The event attended by representatives of the United States, Uzbekistan, Germany, Kirghizstan and other countries was organized by the Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Health and Union of National Pediatric Societies of Turkish Republics.
The congress was preceded by a seminar entitled “Importance of Breast-feeding”. The seminar was addressed by Prof. Nasib Guliyev, executive director of Baku office of the International Children’ Center, deputy executive director Kedriyye Yurdakok (Turkey) After that, 6th congress of pediatrics of the Turkic World kicked off at the Azerbaijan Medical University. Opening the event, Deputy Health Minister Senan Kerimov said the congress was initiated in 1993 by Ihsan Dogramaci, founder of Union of National Pediatric Societies of Turkish Republics. The fourth congress was held in Azerbaijan under the patronage of national leader Heydar Aliyev in 1997. Deputy Minister noted the sixth congress is held under the aegis of President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, adding this event will contribute to implementation of the state program on protection of mother and Children. Speaking at the event also were Ahliman Amiraslanov, rector of the Azerbaijan Medical University, Prof. Nasib Guliyev, Anver Hasanoglu, secretary general of the Union of National Pediatric Societies of Turkish Republics. Discussions also revolved around the report World Child Health Status delivered by Jane Schaller, Executive Director of the International Pediatric Association. The congress will be continued October 7. |
